Our Mill site is located 10 minutes' drive south of Rotorua city, and is surrounded by fabulous forests and lakes. Rotorua offers a handy central North Island base for those who enjoy the outdoors, mountain biking, water sports, with access to ski fields and the coast within easy driving distance.
Red Stag Timber is an industry leader when it comes to producing quality structural timber products. The Company operates New Zealand's largest high tech Sawmill and is a well-established privately owned business, employing over 400 staff & contractors.
We have our own Energy Centre and turbines on site, making efficient use of wood waste boilers to generate steam to support processing operations, and enables the Company to export excess power.
We currently have the following exciting opportunity available within our Red Stag Timber Projects & Site Services team. The potential exists in future, for a proven and effective Projects Engineer to advance their career into a leadership role within the Company.
PROJECTS ENGINEER - Red Stag Timber, Rotorua
We seek a NZ based, qualified Projects Engineer with 5yrs+ post-grad experience including construction, structural, foundation, mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing equipment design & installation work.This role will be part of a busy Projects Team, and reports directly to the senior Engineering Manager. Hours of work are normally Monday to Friday, working 40hrs/wk to suit work flow.
The company has a culture of continuous improvement, and strives to maximise production capacity of quality structural timber products, to meet the demands of both the export and domestic markets. CAPEX improvements currently underway and in the pipeline, involve successful installation of leading edge technical equipment and major plant upgrades across site. We have recently completed a further $40M Sawmill upgrade, to install a second binsorter line.
Key requirements for this role include:
Undertaking design, cost estimation, ROI calculations and capital submissions for capital projects and other plant improvements.- Holding an NZQA verified degree level Engineering qualification, preferably B.Eng (Mech)
- Managing various capital and improvement projects on site, and providing progress updates to Project Owners as required.
- Providing technical advice to the Project Owners and Senior Management, along with other members of the Red Stag team, demonstrating sound practical knowledge of project management and NZ Workplace Safety standards.
- Overseeing all work in progress, maintaining critical path programmes towards achieving targeted completion timeframes, within budget.
- Excellent leadership, organisation and communication skills to lead projects teams.
- Previous industrial site experience and knowledge of sawmilling equipment is a definite advantage.
